I loved the Nymphalidea by Melinda VerMeer And found the perfect yarn in Denmark. Isager Strik Alpaca 1 in grey and white. I downloaded the pattern and was confused about the shape of the shawl. A triangular with one pretty border of mesh, done by short rows and two simple sides. The pointy simply corner was supposed to be at the neck?

Die Nymphalidea Von Melinda VerMeer fand ich super schön und wollte ich unbedingt stricken. Die perfekte Wolle gab es in Dänemark, Isager Strik Alpaca 1 in grau und weiß. Ich habe das Muster heruntergeladen und war verwirrt. Das schöne Netzmuster war an einer Seite und die zwei anderen Seiten waren schlicht, wobei die Ecke am Hals sein sollte?

That I just had to alter. I did a lot of thinking and some maths and did two mesh sides an one long side.

The tip of the corner is not exactly in the middle, but at least it is clear to me how to wear it.

I could have used a little more yarn, but since this yarn is expensive I did some cheating to save money. Nobody notices I guess.

Das musste ich einfach ändern. Also habe ich lange nachgedacht und ein bisschen gerechnet. Die schöne Umrandung ist jetzt an zwei Seiten und das Tuch trägt sich klasse. Da die Wolle knapp wurde musste ich ein wenig schummeln. Bei dem Preis wollte ich keine zwei Knäuel nachkaufen. Ausser mir merkt das wohl auch keiner.

Zauber Monster

I really liked the monster cowl by Julia Allen which I discovered in the Must Stash Podcast and I wanted to knit one too. Unfortunately I didn't read the pattern information and bought fingering instead of Aran yarn. And the pattern asks for various colors and striping them. I looked for self striping yarn and bought the Zauberball100. The stripes were to wide and didn't show the chevrons very well. 

...I was frustrated...and then I had the idea.

I uncoiled half of the yarn ball and started the cowl with a provisional cast on from one part of the yarn, knit two rows and and then used the other end for two rows. That way I went on and when the cowl had the right length, there were the same color combination as at the beginning. I sew it together in kitchener stitch, simple crocheted the edges, steamed it and was really pleased with the product.

I love it!

Im Must Stash Podcast habe ich den Monster Cowl von Julia Allen entdeckt. Ein Zackenschal mit Streifen aus Aran Wolle. Leider habe ich diese Infos vor dem Kauf nicht gelesen und den Zauberball 100 in der Farbe Papagei gekauft. Ein sehr dünnes Garn mit laaaangem Farbwechsel. Die Zacken waren kaum zu sehen...war sehr enttäuscht! 

Doch dann hatte ich die Idee. Ich habe das Knäul halb abgewickelt und dann mit provisorischer Anschlagsreihe erst mit dem einen Ende zwei Reihen gestrickt und dann mit dem anderen. Und so weiter. So entstanden schmale Streifen, die die Zacken gut zeigen und das beste...zum Schluss hatte ich die gleiche Farbkombi wie am Anfang. Ich habe die Enden im Maschenstich zusammengenäht, die Ränder umhäkelt und den Schal gedämpft. Man sieht nicht wo der Anfang war.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden!

Yarn Ball Management

My tip, if you are using more than one yarn balls of yarn, is:

Mein Tipp, wenn mehr als 1 Knäuel benutzt werden:

Put any ball into its own plastic bag. Close them by clips, but leave it a little bit open, for the yarn thread. Here I knit with doubled yarn in 'eternity technique'.

There's no wobbling of yarn balls anymore. 

Pack die Knäuel einzeln in Plastikbeutel, die mit Clips verschlossen werden, wobei ein Spalt für den Faden frei bleibt. Hier stricke ich mit doppeltem Faden 'endlos Streifen'.

Jetzt kullern die Knäuel nicht mehr durcheinander.
