Sock Yarn Blanket / Sockenwolle Decke

Long long time ago I started this blanket. I used all my little rests and cheap solid yarns ( bought on sale in Supermarkets).
I use the yarn doubled - one string solid, one string rest - in garter stitch.
When I have to knit new yarn on I just have it tripled for half a row and cut the ends off. They are not sewn in as a design element (very clever isn't it).
I knit the blanket in strips. Cast on 27 stitches and knit 408 rows (=1,40m approx.). That makes it a portable project. Whenever one strip is done, it is connected the last one by single crochets with a solid thread.
That way I was able to use it for a lap cover since it measured 1,2mx1,4m.
It will measure 2mx1.40m when I am done. Then I do an edging. I plan single crochet or I-cord.
It is so warm and soft and not as heavy as a crocheted blanket.

Yarn Ball Management

My tip, if you are using more than one yarn balls of yarn, is:

Put any ball into its own plastic bag. Close them by clips, but leave it a little bit open, for the yarn thread. Here I knit with doubled yarn in 'eternity technique'.
There's no wobbling of yarn balls anymore.

Heart Basket

Material:
Use whatever you have or like.
With sisal (Photos) it looks more like a basket.

Beginning: form a slip knot, where you put all the stitches of the first round in.

1. round: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in slip knot eleven times, link with a sl st to

2. round: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc and tr in next st, 3 tr in next st, tc and dc in next st, 2 hdc, 2 dc and 1tr and 2 dc in following st, 2 hdc, 1 dc and 1 tr in next st, 3 tr in next st, 1 1 tr and 1 dc in next st, 3 ch, link it to the 1.round with a sl st.

3. round: 3 sc in the ch of the 2. round, *2 dc in one st* repeat from *to*4times, 5 dc, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc and 1 tr and 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in 1 st, 5 dc, *2 dc in 1 st* repeat 4 times from * to *,3 sc in chs of the 2. round, link with sl st to 2. round.

Now ch 3 (counts as 1. dc), turn the heart around and dc in blo 42 times, link with sl st to first dc, ch 3 ( counts as 1. dc), dc 42 times, link with a sl st to 1. dc of the round.

If you like, do 1 round crabstitches, for a nicer brim.
Fill it with whatever you like. These hearts are filled with candy.

First post of a new knitting and crocheting blog/erster Post eines neuen Strick- und Häkelblogs

My intention for this blog is showing off my work and posting free patterns. I try to leave out personal blah-blah-blah.
Since I'd like to blog on regular basis, I will post some of my old stuff, if I get a creativity crisis or if I am lacking time. I hope nobody will mind.
Please be kind on me on behalf of my English. I am no native speaker, but I love the language and I am eager to learn and practice.

I would be happy if I meet your interests and maybe even inspire you.

Danke and thank you for reading, für das Lesen und kommentieren und for commenting.
