Finally the yarn, SMC Select Solavita, I saw before and really liked, was on sale at the department store close to the train station. Whenever I have to wait for a train I have a look there.

I bought three balls and was happy. I started to knit the shawl Grisulinchen, but when the yarn had been knitted it was not big enought. I started another shawl in a different method, but as I could have known before, it also was too small. I ordered more yarn online and wanted to do a big gipsy like shawl with fringes. When it arrived I discovered that it would be enough for a little short sleeved cardigan.

I frogged the shawl and started it top down out of the book The Handy Book of Top Down Sweaters

Unfortunately the yarns were not of the exact same color and I had to undo one sleeve.

I really knit my money worth out of this yarn;-)

Tip: If the colors differ a little, knit stripes of both colors.

Immer wenn ich noch Zeit habe, bevor mein Zug fährt, gehe ich in die Handarbeitsabteilung eines Kaufhauses direkt neben dem Bahnhof. Eines Tages ist dort tatsächlich das Garn SMC Select Solavita, mit dem ich schon lange liebäugele stark reduziert. Ich kaufe die letzten drei Knäuel und fange ein Tuch, Grisulinchen, an. Es wird zu klein. Also fange ich ein anderes Tuch an, für das die Wolle auch nicht reicht. Ich beschließe Wolle online nach zu bestellen. Es soll ein großes folkloristisches Dreieckstuch mit Fransen werden. Als die Wolle ankommt, stelle ich fest, dass es auch für ein kurzärmeliges Jäckchen aus dem Buch The Handy Book of Top Down Sweaters reicht. Ich mache den Schal wieder auf und stricke die Jacke.

Leider haben die Knäuel unterschiedliche Partien und ich muss einen Ärmel aufribbeln und neu anfangen.

Bei dieser Wolle habe ich wirklich mein Geld abgestrickt;-)

Tipp: Wenn die Wolle von unterschiedlicher Partie ist: beide Partien in Streifen verstricken.

Sock Yarn Blanket / Sockenwolle Decke

Long long time ago I started this blanket. I used all my little rests and cheap solid yarns ( bought on sale in Supermarkets).

I use the yarn doubled - one string solid, one string rest - in garter stitch.

When I have to knit new yarn on I just have it tripled for half a row and cut the ends off. They are not sewn in as a design element (very clever isn't it). 

I knit the blanket in strips. Cast on 27 stitches and knit 408 rows (=1,40m approx.). That makes it a portable project. Whenever one strip is done, it is connected the last one by single crochets with a solid thread.

That way I was able to use it for a lap cover since it measured 1,2mx1,4m.

It will measure 2mx1.40m when I am done. Then I do an edging. I plan single crochet or I-cord.

It is so warm and soft and not as heavy as a crocheted blanket.

Vor langer Zeit habe ich diese Decke aus Sockenwollresten und billiger einfarbiger Supermarkt Sockenwolle begonnen. Ich habe das Garn doppelt in Kraus rechts verstrickt, immer ein Rest mit einer einfarbigen Wolle.

Wenn ich einen neue Faden anstricke, stricke ich einfach eine halbe Reihe mit drei Fäden. Die Enden schneide ich nur ab. Ich vernähe sie nicht, sondern sage einfach, die sollen heraushängen (schlau, oder).

Ich stricke die Decke in Streifen. 27 Maschen aufnehmen und 408 Reihen, ca 1,40 m, stricken. Sobald ein Streifen fertig ist, wird er an den letzten mit festen Maschen angehäkelt mit einem Faden einfarbiger Wolle. 

Auf diese Weise konnten wir die Decke schon nutzen, als Sie noch kleiner war und die Streifen können prima in der Handtasche mitgenommen werden.

Sie wird mal 2 m x 1,40 m messen. Entweder werde ich dann einen Häkelrand arbeiten, oder ein i-Cord anstricken.

Die Decke ist warm und weich und nicht so schwer wie ein gehäkelte Decke.

Monkey Socks

My first monkey socks I gave away.

Now I just had to knit Monkey Socks the 2nd and since they are so easy and the result looks so nice I certainly will knit them again. Look the pattern up in ravelry, Monkey Socks of Cookie A.

I did some variations though. I casted on 50 % more stitches and purled two stitches together every second stitch in the first round. That makes the cuff super stretchy.

I did a dutch heel and a wide pointier toe instead of the straight ending toe in the pattern.

Mein zweites Paar Monkey Socks von Cookie A. Das erste Paar wurde direkt von den Nadeln an andere Füße versprochen. Ich musste einfach noch welche für mich stricken, da das Muster einfach ist und trotzdem so schön aussieht.

Verändert habe ich die Hacke, bei mir ist es eine Bumerang Hacke, und die Spitze. Meine Zehen Anordnung verlangt nach einem spitzeren Abschluss.

Beim aufnehmen habe ich 50% mehr Maschen genommen, um dann in der ersten Runde jede 2. links zusammen zu stricken - macht das Bündchen besonders dehnbar.

Knit Night with a friend / Strickabend mit Freundin

This project was started together with my friend as a very little knit along. It is a wonderful pattern which is easy and has some eyecatching details at the same time.
My friend did her shawl without beads, but with a really pretty yarn, Jawoll Magic Dégradé. I just love the colour!
In my shawl I used beads for the very first time. I used 4mm pearls and used dental floss to push the pearl onto one stitch.

Meine Freundin und ich haben dieses Muster als Mini Knit Along gestrickt. Ein Tolles Muster! Sehr einfach, aber mit kleinen, das Auge auf sich ziehenden Details.
Meine Freundin hat ihr Tuch ohne die Perlen in einem sehr schönen Garn, Jawoll Magic Dégradé, gearbeitet. Die Farbe ist so toll!
In meinem Tuch habe ich das erste Mal Perlen eingestrickt. Zuerst habe ich 4mm Perlen gehabt, die ich über mit Zahnseide (mit Floss) über die Maschen geschubst habe.

Unfortunately the four mm pearls were not in stock when I needed to buy more so I purchased 3mm pearls ant those I put on strong thread and put it on the yarn itself. Again and again I pulled up a pearl to my work and knitted it in.

Leider habe ich, als ich die Perlen nachkaufen musste nur noch 3mm Perlen bekommen. Die habe ich dann auf  Zwirn gezogen und damit direkt auf den Faden gefädelt. Immerwieder habe ich dann eine Perle zum Tuch gezogen und eingestrickt.

I used Handgefärbt Merino Extra Soft in the Minotaurus colourway. I bought it at ebay and this is the perfect project for the yarn.

Ich habe Handgefärbt Merino Extra Soft in der Farbe Minotaurus benutzt. Ich hatte es bei Ebay gekauft und das hier ist das perfekte Projekt für das Garn.

Ikoma with a b - mit einem b

This is a crocheted hat with a b which stands for a certain company. It was wished for and it will be gifted instead of flowers. 

The pattern tells you to do round by round, starting with chain stitches. I don't like the look of the joining points. it is in the back, but anyway...

After the first round, I started the next round in the first stitch of round one. It is a long Spiral. To mark the end of the round, I used a yarn rest.

Die Mütze wurde sich gewünscht und sie wird statt Blumen überreicht. Das b steht für die Firma, bei der der Empfänger arbeitet.

Die Anleitung will, das man die Runden einzeln mit Luftmaschen beginnt und dann mit einer Kettmaschen verbindet. Ich mag aber die hinten schräg verlaufende "Naht" nicht. 

Ich häkel deshalb nach der ersten Runde gleich in der ersten Masche der vorherigen Ründe weiter. Es wird eine einzige große Spirale. Das Ende der jeweiligen Ründe markiere ich mit einem Faden.

The joining points would show like the marker thread in the back. I prefer my way and no angular "seam" in the back.

I first tried to crochet the pattern in, but that was simply not possible ( hubby said,"camel?").

Then I crocheted black and stitched the b. Therefore I copied the b from the internet on thin foil and put it on the hat. I stitched through hat and foil. Later I could easily rib out the thin foil. To have the threads be connected I used a felting needle. It is sharp and has rough parts on it which entangles the fibre.

Zuerst hatte ich versucht das b einzuhäkeln, aber als ich fertig war, fragte mein Mann nur "Ein Kamel?".

Dann habe ich die Mütze einfach schwarz gehäkelt und das b aufgestickt. Dafür habe ich das Symbol aus dem Internet mit Folienstift auf eine Frühstückstüte übertragen, auf die Mütze gelegt und durchgestickt. Ich konnte sie danach einfach herunterreißen. Die Fäden waren lang und lose. Mit einer Filznadel (spitz mit Widerhaken) habe ich die Fasern von Fäden und Mütze miteinander verwoben.

Mission accomplished;)

Cute Owls - Süße Eulen

The pattern for the owls and the circles had been on Facebook a while ago and I used yarn rest to do one owl, cause they are so cute. It looked so pretty, I had to do more.

Das Häkelmuster der Eulen und Kreise war irgendwann mal auf Facebook und ich wollte mit Wollresten eine Eule häkeln, die war so süß, dass ich die Eulen und Kreise gehäkelt habe.

 I crocheted the owls and the two different kinds of circles as in the pattern and connected the shapes just as I saw it on the photo. 

I didn't want to do a blanket, so I used it as pillow case. My tip, if you dont want to do both sides of the case, just sew it on a bought one. I used an IKEA pillow case.

Ich habe die Teile dann so verbunden, wie ich es auf dem Foto gesehen hatte. Eine Decke wollte ich nicht, deshalb wurde es ein Kissenbezug. Mein Tip: Wenn Du nur eine Seite des Kissens arbeiten möchtest, dann nähe sie einfach auf einen gekauften Bezug. Ich habe den getupften von IKEA genommen.

Yarn Ball Management

My tip, if you are using more than one yarn balls of yarn, is:

Mein Tipp, wenn mehr als 1 Knäuel benutzt werden:

Put any ball into its own plastic bag. Close them by clips, but leave it a little bit open, for the yarn thread. Here I knit with doubled yarn in 'eternity technique'.

There's no wobbling of yarn balls anymore. 

Pack die Knäuel einzeln in Plastikbeutel, die mit Clips verschlossen werden, wobei ein Spalt für den Faden frei bleibt. Hier stricke ich mit doppeltem Faden 'endlos Streifen'.

Jetzt kullern die Knäuel nicht mehr durcheinander.
